Support Potomac Chocolate’s Kickstarter!
Since we launched our first bar (Upala 70%) in late 2010, Potomac Chocolate has grown tremendously. When that bar launched, I was making chocolate with a convection oven, a PVC pipe winnower, and one small melanger. At launch, one shop carried Potomac Chocolate: Biagio Fine Chocolate (now Cocova).
Potomac Chocolate is now carried in over 60 locations and has been recognized with several awards and many highly positive reviews.
Since launching, my primary focus has been on continually improving the chocolate. I’ve also worked on increasing how much chocolate I can produce. To do that, I’ve built — MacGyvered, really 🙂 — repurposed or purchased several pieces of equipment: more and larger melangers, tempering machine, roasting drum, cooling cabinet, vibrating table, upgraded winnower, etc.
Despite my best efforts, I’ve struggled to keep up with the increase in orders, and am almost constantly back ordered. This is definitely better than the opposite problem, but is really holding Potomac Chocolate back.
So, today, I’m launching a Kickstarter project to help me acquire new equipment. This equipment will enable me to increase the amount of chocolate I can make. In turn, this will allow me to meet current and future demand.
As part of this Kickstater project, I’m going to be developing a new origin bar! I haven’t decided what the new origin I’ll use, but I have a couple possibilities in mind. Several of the rewards include early access to this new chocolate before it hits stores. Other rewards include a Potomac Chocolate T-shirt (I had several requests for this!), chocolate tastings, custom wrapped chocolate, and more!
How can you help?
I really need your help to make this happen! Click over to the Kickstarter project, check out the rewards, and then click ‘Back this Project’ to pledge your support.
Then, tell your friends, family and co-workers to do the same! Like the page on Facebook, Tweet and/or blog about it. To reach the goal, this project needs to be linked on as many websites, forums and social networks as possible–every little bit helps!
We really do need your help to make this happen. We need you to spread word of this campaign far and wide. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your co-workers. In order to reach our goal, we need coverage on as many websites, forums, and social networks as possible.
I truly appreciate all of the support you have given Potomac Chocolate in the past and any you able to give now!
Thanks,
Ben
